Many political analysts are of the opinion that some of the AP's top media houses played spoil sport during Samaikyandhra agitations. In spite of knowing the fact that the state's division was inexorable, some of the media houses slang mud on only a few politicians. Former union minister and MP, Megastar Chiranjeevi was one among those politicians being targeted by media. Having known the fact that state's bifurcation was inevitable, Chiranjeevi sought union territory status to Hyderabad. The Congress high command also reportedly gave its consent to Chiranjeevi's plea. However, the AP media projected it as a great blunder and never ever had it accepted to such valuable proposals.

MP Undavalli Arun Kumar's interview was telecasted in a TV channel today. He pointed out that media's role during Samaikyandhra struggle was tricky and questionable. " Chiranjeevi tried to bring UT status to Hyderabad. But you( media) people made it a big issue which led to burning of the effigies of Chiranjeevi everywhere," said Vundavalli. He opined that if media had done a prominent role in getting maximum benefits to new AP state, many of the existing problems would have been solved then.
