State Government is planning to rechristen “Nandi” film awards with other important name according to Cinematography and Commercial Taxes Minister T Srinivas Yadav.     

Briefing media persons at Secretariat here on Monday, he said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is keen on the issue and is scrutinizing a few names and will come out with one that aptly suits our Telangana State. Telangana Government will offer state film awards with another name to be finalized by the Chief Minister, he said. He expressed anguish on some rumor mongers for trying in vain to create panic like situation. Now that the film industry and businessmen and people reposed faith in TRS Government, its priority is to maintain law and order, communal harmony and protect their  interests of safe living in twin cities.

The CM is all set to promote the Telugu Film Industry in Telangana and convinced bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan who was here to receive Akkineni Nageswar Rao International Telugu Film Award, he said. Telugu Film Stars including former Union Minister Chiranjeevi and Akkineni Nagarjuna held talks with the Chief Minister and expressed content on his plans to promote and develop the film industry, the minister said. Earlier he held a meeting with Telugu film Producers, Directors, artists, associations and groups and assured them of an amicable situation.
