Katha Venuka Katha story is all about a young filmmaker who experiences mysterious happenings ahead of his film release and how he deals with him. Ashwin (Viswant Duddumpudi), an aspiring director couldn't make any headway and his maradalu Sailu (Srijotha Ghosh)'s father puts a condition that he should come up with a superhit film in just one year.

Ashin finally convinces realtor Krishna (Jayaprakash) to produce the project. He selects a few actors for his project and while he was about to ready the final copy, he gets a huge shock. To find out more about it and how Raju (Dhanraj), police officer Satya (Sunil), and DIG Satyanarayana ( Banerjee)  are connected, who is behind the mysterious and brutal rape and murders of girls, form the crux of the story.

Newcomer Vishwant Duddumpudi did well within his limitations. He showed his frustration as an aspiring director and also showed good emotions while talking about the spurt in rapes in society. Srijotha Ghosh is ok as the female lead. She is confined to a couple of songs.

Sunil played an important cameo and he is ok in his role. He should however have shown more variations in his expressions and emotions. One gets a feeling that he just passed through the motions. Dhanraj. Banerjee, Jayaprakash, Madhunandan, Raghu Babu did roles tailor-made for them. Raghu Babu emoted well and so did Jayaprakash. Others performed according to their roles.

Katha Venuka Katha story penned by Krishna Chaitanya is a thriller with a film backdrop. The premise may excite on paper, but right from the first scene, the narration turns out to be routine. Even the 80s films do not have such silly narrations and dialogues. The film's first half ends in a normal interval bang and it seems the director ended it just to have an interval because he spent one hour for nothing.

The second half is loaded with silly investigation and interrogation scenes featuring Sunil and the serial type of setting and backdrop tests the patience of the viewers. When people felt that the film ended on a happy note, the director dragged it introducing Sunil's angle to it, irritating everyone to the core. Director failed on all fronts and it turned out to be an utter disappointment.

Shravan Bharadwaj's music is just ok. The first song is good and shot in a beautiful and attractive way. His background score failed to elevate the scenes. At times it turned out to be loud. The cinematography of Shekhar Ganganamoni is ok. He did justice to the film by taking into view the financial situation of the project. The editing of Amar Reddy Kudumula left a lot to be desired. The first half is just ok and the second half dragged on and on testing the patience of the viewers. Dialogues are pretty ordinary. Production values are average.

Altogether, Katha Venuka Katha turns out to be silly and senseless. Director Krishna Chaitanya failed to get the optimum out of the cast and the weak characterization, insipid story, screenplay, and direction did not give him the opportunity to explore that angle. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 1 Rating for Katha Venuka Katha.
