Kannappa's story revolves around Thinnadu, an atheist hunter and how he transformed into a great devotee of Lord Shiva. Thinnadu (Manchu Vishnu), son of Nathanathudu (Sarath Kumar), starts hating God due to the shocking incidents in his childhood.

Where this leads to and what role Lord Shiva (Akshay Kumar), Goddess Parvathi (Kajal Agarwal), Mahadeva Shastri (Mohan Babu), Kirata (Mohan Lal), Rudra (Prabhas), tribal leaders Mundadu (Devraj), Kampadu (Mukesh Rishi), Pannaga (Madhu Bala) play and how Thinnadu become Kannappa, a great devotee of Lord Shiva from the rest of the story.

Kannappa (2025) Movie: Artists Review

Mohan Babu brings in his experience to his role as Mahadeva Shastri. He brings depth and leaves impact with his unique dialogue delivery especially in second half.

Kannappa (2025) Movie: Technicians Review

Kannappa story and screenplay is provided by Manchu Vishnu himself and he deserves full credit for his sincere attempt. The narration starts in an interesting way Director Mukesh Kumar Singh takes his own time introducing various characters and then concentrates only on highlighting only the valour and romance of the Thinnadu.

The first half with the interval block with Thinnadu's flashback, sets the stage for the second half. While the first half is full of romance and action, the second half is more on devotion and the transformation of Thinnadu. Second half is loaded with emotions and the film takes a new turn with the entry of Prabhas, he is the game-changer. The emotional climax where Vishnu Manchu delivered his career best by performance and the powerful dialogues regarding the existence of Lord Shiva connect chords and touch the hearts of all.

Mukesh Kumar Singh's direction is good and the story and screenplay by Vishnu Manchu is decent. The cinematography of Sheldon Chau added value to the narration. It turned the film into a rich one visually. The background score of Stephan Devassy is good and is in sync with the story. The songs pertaining to Lord Shiva are good. Editing of Anthony Gonsalvez could have been better, especially in the first half. Production values are grand.

Kannappa: Advantages

  • Manchu Vishnu Dedication
  • Prabhas Impactful Role
  • Mohan Babu, Mohan Lal Characters
  • Songs on Lord Shiva
  • Emotionally Charged Climax

Kannappa: Disadvantages

  • Parts Of First half
  • Slow Pace At Times
  • Excess Dose Of Romance

Kannappa (2025) Movie: Rating Analysis

Altogether, Kannappa is a devotional entertainer showcasing the devotion of Thinnadu towards Lord Shiva. Manchu Vishnu played the key role and for pan India release, he roped in various stars from all industries and Mukesh Kumar Singh directed it quite aptly. He added a few commercial elements to attract the attention of all sections of viewers. A little fine-tuning of the story, racy screenplay in the first half could have added value to the final output. But, the final hour uplifted the film where the transformation of Thinnadu to Kannappa is dealt in an impactful manner. The emotionally charged climax surely resonate with the audience. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 3 rating for Kannappa.
