Gagan (Pradeep Ranganathan) despite suffering breakups lives happily and tries to keep everyone happy. In the midst of all this, Kundana (Mamitha Baiju) proposes her. How he will react and what role Kundana's father, his uncle Aditya seshu (Sarath Kumar), a politician, his mother (Rohini), Rahul(Satya) and others form rest of the narration.
Pradeep Ranganathan came up with a youthful performance. He played such roles earlier and he showed variations accordingly. He entertained with his comic timing and delivered dialogues and made an impression with his mannerisms. However, for most of the times, he resembles a carbon copy of Dhanush.
Mamitha Baiju looked pretty on the screen and her chemistry with Pradeep Ranganathan is good on the screen. But her role didn't get the desired character arc.
Sarath Kumar performed well bringing in his experience to the fore. His role comes up with a surprise. But much to the disappointment of all, his charcter was under utilised in the second half.
Hridhu Haroon, Rohini, Dravid Selvam, Aishwarya Sharma and others performed according to their roles.
Dude story is written by Keerthiswaran. The first half starts in an interesting way with the story having an interesting backdrop. However, he takes his own time to go into the proceedings. For most of the first half viewers will be wondering as to where the story is heading to.
The screenplay and narration looks incoherent and disjoint and misses the emotional connect. This continues till the fag ended of the first half where the hilarious scenes carries the film forward quickening the pace of the narration.
This sets the stage for the more engaging second half. Everything turns out to be predictable and monotonous elements ends up irritating viewers. The feel good romantic entertainer nosedived into below ordinary story. The elements like caste and other things in the story looked forced only for Tamil viewers.
Editing of Bharath Vikraman left a lot to be desired. There are many scenes in the second half that slowed the pace of the narration.
Niketh Bommi's Cinematography is good and he showed the scenes in a colourful and appealing way. The music by Sai Abhyankkar is good and came up with youthful tunes and background score turned out to be a mixed output. At times the score elevated the scenes but at times it failed to do so. Production values are good and decent.
Another, Dude turns out to be an average entrainer. Pradeep Ranganathan came up energetic performance which livened up the proceedings. Director Keerthiswaran came up with with interesting elements. He included hilarious elements to entertain viewers. But missing emotions, second half, weak ending undid his efforts. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for Dude.
