Hyderabad, Jan 5: Talks between the Government and the National Majdoor Union of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation are in progress at the  Bus Bhavan here on Tuesday.Defying the Government orders, RTC employees have decided to serve the strike notice to the management, which forced the Government to hold talks with NMU.

As reported earlier, the Government has issued orders banning strikes by public transport RTC in the next six months beginning January, 2010 but the RTC unions decided to go ahead with the strike from Jan 6.During the talks, the management offered only 15 per cent of fitment benefit against the NMU’s demand for 27 per cent.Apart from the wage revision, the NMU is demanding regularisation of the 20,000 conductors and drivers working on contract.The NMU is also demanding that the revision of payment be done with retrospective effect from April 1, 2009.
