Social Networking site Twitter is reported to have crashed yesterday due to overload of New Year Messages. The website was out of action for one hour at 3 PM (Local British Time). This time coincided exactly with midnight celebrations in Japan when a record 16,197 tweets were posted per second. Users were wished with the message of ‘Twitter is over capacity.’

‘The site returned to working order but then stopped on several other occasions, prompting speculation that it was being hit by the arrival of New Year in different parts of the world,’ the ‘Daily Mail’ reported. The meltdown is purely due to World welcoming the year 2012.
