A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from Bhadradri Kothagudem district has tested positive for novel coronavirus (Covid-19), a day after he was booked for not informing health authorities about the arrival of his son from London. His son had earlier tested positive for coronavirus after his arrival from London.

Besides the senior cop, their 33-year-old female cook also tested positive for coronavirus. A case has been registered against the DSP and his son for violating quarantine. The father-son duo also attended a few social gatherings before they were put in quarantine. The officials later quarantined both as mandated by the state government.

The DSP is currently working as sub-divisional police officer for Kothagudem town. The police booked a case under IPC section 188 (disobedience of public servant's order).

Along with the DSP’s wife, a few police home guards and gunmen who were on duty with the official are also in quarantine.
