Tollywood is set to witness spurt in remakes at the box office. Currently, there are more than half a dozen remakes going on at a brisk pace. The list includes Pawan Kalyan's Vakeel Saab, Venkatesh's Narappa, Ram's RED, Nithin's Andha Dhun to name a few. But many say producers are experiencing remakes scare. Among the remakes which released in Tollywood, except for Varun Tej's Valmiki and Bellamkonda Srinivas' Rakshasudu, most of them stood as flops to disasters.

Dil Raju who never thought of remaking any films in his career dared to remake Tamil classic 96 as Jaanu with Samantha and Sharwanand and roped the original director so that he do not miss the flavor. However, the film bombed at the box office. The same is the case with Kalyan Ram's Entha Manchi Vaadavuraa. Despite making numerous changes, the film ended as a disaster.
