Krishnam Raju entered politics and joined BJP in the 1990s and went on to become MP twice in the 12th and 13th Loksabha from Kakinada and Narsapur constituencies. He even became Minister of State for Ministry of External Affairs in the Third Vajpayee Ministry from 1999 to 2004.
However he stayed away from politics after he lost from Rajamundry in 2009 since joining Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam. Now inside talk is Krishnam Raju is keen to contest Lok Sabha poll on BJP ticket. For quite some time, after BJP came to power, he started moving closely with the BJP top brass.
Rumors spread that the party too would make him Governor of some state. It did not happen but now he is planning to contest elections on BJP ticket. Krishnam Raju feels that his nephew Prabhas' stardom after Baahubali will power him to power even though people of AP are angry with PM Modi and BJP for going back on special status promise. The question is can Prabhas power his uncle to power.
