When Balakrishna announced that he was coming up with a biopic on his dad NTR, speculation increased about who would direct the film. During the initial stages, name of maverick director Ram Gopal Varma did rounds and even RGV sent subtle signals about the same.

But for some unknown reasons, RGV's name disappeared and Teja was announced as the director. Later Krish replaced him and eventually directed Ntr Biopic. However RGV who felt insulted launched his own version of NTR- Lakshmi's NTR.

Many did not take him seriously, as RGV many times announced various controversial projects but shelved most of them, going into the silent mode after hogging the media limelight.

Had Balakrishna and his team discussed with Ram Gopal Varma, he would have shelved Lakshmi's NTR too. However they did not make any such attempts and took RGV lightly. Balakrishna did not bother about RGV as NTR Kathanayakudu got good craze and RGV was reeling under the disaster of Officer. But after the film release, Kathanayakudu turned out to be a disaster and now RGV is hogging the media limelight with Lakshmi's NTR as trailer got overwhelming response.

Now Balakrishna's team went into defensive mode ahead of Mahanayakudu release. They are experiencing scares as to how much more damage RGV will do unleashing Lakshmi's NTR during Mahanayakudu release. Sources say Balakrishna is pondering that he would have been better off had he handed over Ntr Biopic direction mantle to the maverick director RGV himself.
