Super Star Rajinikanth's upcoming entertainer Petta directed by Karthik Subbaraj of Pizza fame is releasing in a grand manner on Jan 10. Rajini is romancing Simran and Trisha, two yesteryear heroines.

Though Rajini is offering Pongal treat, buzz is very low on the film owing to the disasters of his previous films like Kala, Kabali and 2.0. Even the exhibitors are not showing minimal interest on the film and the makers are finding it difficult to get the theatres.

Meanwhile, reports are coming out that Petta is a copy of Mega Star Chiranjeevi's hit Master which was released 22 years back. Master directed by Suresh Krishna turned out to be blockbuster with Chiranjeevi's powerful performance and Sakshi Sivanand's ultra glamorous looks.

In Master, Chiranjeevi played the role of a college lecturer and saves students who falls in the trap of a mafia don. In Petta too Rajini plays the role of a hostel warden and Bobby Simha too does nefarious acts just like in Master. While in Master, Puneet Issar was the villain, in Petta, Nawazuddin Siddique, Bollywood actor is the baddie.

Petta however included few additional roles like Trisha doing the role of Roshini in the flashback in Master. Both the roles end on a sad note. Simran is reprising the role of Sakshi Sivanand. The rumors will be proven true or false when Petta hits the screens on Jan 10.
