Tamil hero Vijay's recent entertainer Sarkar directed by Murugadoss got average reviews from the critics. However thanks to Vijay's fan following, the film got record collections. When many expressed doubts about the film's performance at the box office, the controversies surrounding it is boosting the box office collections. 

Ruling AIADMK government and the Ministers accused Vijay and Murugadoss of insulting Government schemes and more particularly their patriach Puratchi Thalaivi Jayalalithaa and called state wide protests. AIADMK cadre stopped the film releases in various theatres and tore open Vijay's posters and cutouts. AIADMK objected to the scenes showing Vijay destroying the free grinders, table fans and TVs in the film at ruling party office. They also objected to Varalakshmi Sarathkumar's character named as Komalavalli, after Jayalalithaa's real name.

Police went out to act against director Murugadoss but Murugadoss sought anticipatory bail and got relief from the High Court. Vijay and Murugadoss later rushed to CM E.Palanisamy and resolved the matter amicably by deleting and muting the voice and scenes. 

However Vijay's fans are furious as many of them started destroying the free TVs, mixers, grinders, table fans distributed by the AIADMK government and sharing the videos which are going viral. This is precipitating the issue between as Sarkar fans giving shock to TN sarkar.
