The film was named as Kabir Singh and when the title was announced, it got a mixed response. While some fans asked Sandeep saying “Tamil remake teaser itself a flop...Don't disappoint us with Hindi too.. Max entertainment expected"

Another netizen however trolled Sandeep Reddy saying ' “#ArjunReddy was a horrible misogynistic film that glorified drug abuse. The actor looked pathetic. It reduced women to mere a sex object. I can't believe it became a blockbuster and a Hindi remake??? Pathetic" He went on to add " Irony at its best. A time when MeToo movement is unfolding the shallowness of Bollywood they are coming with Kabir Singh. A remake of a highly sexist movie. Arjun Reddy that is denigrating to all women plus it promotes drug abuse. What a shame."
