A part time RBI board member Gurumurthy opined Supreme Court's recent judgement to allow women devotees to lord Ayyappa temple was the reason for the massive disaster in Kerala. He tweeted, " "Supreme Court judges may like to see if there is any connection between the case and what is happening in Sabarimala. Even if there is one in a million chance of a link people would not like the case decided against Ayyappan."

Obviously, Gurumurthy faced wrath of netizens. However, some supporters of Gurumurthy's tweet felt Supreme Court is unnecessarily interfering people's religious beliefs and sentiments.
