Chiru: Only Superstar from Seniors

As he ruled 3.5 decades as a number one hero of Tollywood and is still holding his position firmly, Megastar Chiranjeevi is considered to be an all time number one hero of Tollywood. Natasimham Nandamuri Balakrishna, King Nagarjuna and Victory Venkatesh would compete Megastar with their films at times. 

When it comes to the contemporary generation, Chiranjeevi appeared to have kept his position safe, while the ranges of other senior stars have fallen down drastically. 

Chiranjeevi's comeback film Khaidi Number 150 did a pre release business Rs.80 crores and collected a sum of Rs.105+ crores share. The film occupied industry hit status until Rangasthalam release. And now, Megastar's Sye Raa Narasimhareddy is being made with a whopping budget of Rs.200 crores. The pre release business maybe zoomed up between Rs.300 crores and Rs.400 crores. All these factors indicate Megastar's stamina is unshaken even today.

On the contrary, other senior stars got their films' business confined to certain levels which are not on par with Megastar's films business. Balakrishna's Jai Simha collected Rs.28+ crores while his all time biggest grosser Gauthamiputra Satakarni was settled at Rs.48 crores share. Nagarjuna's recent ventures collected around Rs.15 crores. His biggest grossing film Soggade Chinni Nayana minted around Rs.50 crores share. However, his latest disaster Officer raised doubts on his current stardom. The movie collected Rs.1 crore share in full run. And lastly, Venkatesh's recent ventures collected around Rs.20 crores share. Having understood the current scenario, both Nag and Venky prefer multi-starrers.

Other colleagues of Chiranjeevi such as Mohan Babu, Rajasekhar, Suman are on the verge of retirement while Jagapahti Babu, Rajendra Prasad, Arjun and a few others stepped into the shoes of character artists.

All in all, Chiranjeevi stands out the only superstar from seniors. Of course, there is no big hero from contemporary generation to beat him. Can't we say this a rare feat of Megastar?
