Sridevi: One and Only All India No.1 Heroine

Indian film industry has been ostentatious and opulent with great actors and technicians. And it was ruled by legendary heroines such as Madhubala, Vyjayanthimala, Hemamalini, Rekha, Madhuri Dixit and several others. 

Enchanting and bewitching beauty Sridevi, however, stood as one and only all India number one heroine of all time. Some of the heroines might have dominated North India, but had no roots in South. On the contrary, a few heroines, who were crowned as numero uno heroines down South, couldn't prove their mettle as number ones in North. Nonetheless, Sridevi has been the only heroine who had been renowned as a number one actress in North as well as South during 1980s and early 90s. 

Born in Shivakasi of Tamil Nadu on 13 August 1963, Sridevi made her film debut as a child artist in Tamil film Thunaiva in 1967 at the age of 4. Sridevi appeared as a female lead in Padaharella Vayasu in 1978. Thereafter, the thespian dominated Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi film industries with a wide variety of films such as Vetagadu, Karthika Deepam, Muddula Koduku, Chuttalunnaru Jagraththa, Aakali Rajyam, Kondaveeti Simham, Bobbili Puli, Justice Chowdari, Aakhari Poratam and Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. She emerged as all India superstar with super hit Hindi films like Himmatwala, Maawali, Tohfa, Mr India, Sarfarosh, Nagina, Chandni, Chalbaaz, Laadla etc. 

Apart from being an enticing beauty, Sridevi flaunted her extraordinary performances in many great films such as Vasantha Kokila, JVAS, Kshanakshanam, Devatha, Karthika Deepam and her last offing Mom. 

Having acted in 260 films which included 85 Telugu films, Sridevi was honoured with many awards. She won Padma Sri Award from the govenment of India and was the recipient of 15 Filmfare awards.

The news of Sridevi's sudden demise has come as a huge shocker to every film lover of India. This unbelievable heart-wrenching situation is hoped to be overcome remembering Sridevi's excellencies in various roles in her films.
