Ever since Sasikala has been elected the floor leader of Tamil Nadu state's assembly, the union government reportedly indulged in spoil sport roping in Panneer Selvam as the rebel within the party.

From then on the BJP and its pro media have been indulging in bad propaganda on Sasikala led AIADMK and showered sympathy on OPS. The BJP was alleged to have directed the state's governor Vidyasagar Rao delaying his decision on inviting Sasikala to swear in as a CM. Finally, their attempts to destruct the party appeared to have gone worthwhile with the Supreme Court's verdict on four years imprisonment of Sasikala.

As Sasikala went behind the bars, it was speculated there would be a breach in the party. However, all the MLAs unanimously backed Palanisamy's candidature as the new CM of the state. As a result, the governor had to invite Palanisamy to  take the oath. This is said to be a huge defeat to the BJP, which anxiously wished to be benefited with the political turmoil in the state.

Palanisamy swore in this evening at 4:30 along with 31 members cabinet. He keeps the portfolios of public, police, home, finance, PWD, highways and minor ports and personnel and administrative reforms. Party presidium chairman K A Sengottaiyan will be the only new face in Palaniswami's cabinet. Meanwhile, Palanisamy should win no motion confidence on Monday.
