Why Such Low Numbers For Majnu?

Natural Star Nani’s yesterday released ‘Majnu’ has opened to divided reports on day one owing to weak content. Yet, Nani’s presence is strongly believed to do the magic at Box Office. Going by the early figures making rounds in trade circles, ‘Majnu’ wasn’t the first pick of NRI Telugu audience in USA.

Nani’s market expanded exponentially with ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy.’ This film drew $70K through premier shows. Thanks to high scale publicity and superbly cut teaser, trailer. Nevertheless, the brand value of Geetha Arts and Allu Aravind added to the final punch. Later on, Nani’s ‘Gentleman’ scored good in USA raking $72K, highest ever for Nani and dgreed that ‘Gentleman’ did not move forward on expected lines from there on.

With three back to back decent scorers, definitely ‘Majnu’ should have broken all the old records of Nani in American market. However, early reports suggest that ‘Majnu’ premiere shows opened weaker than ‘Bhale Bhale, Gentleman’ and slightly better than ‘Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gadha.’ Premiere show collections for ‘Majnu’ stood at mere $58K. We need to wait and see, how far reviews and word of mouth publicity would help ‘Majnu’ to fare in weekend.
