'Bhaktha Prahlada's Release Day Should Be a Celebration

Today is the most memorable day for all filmmakers and film goers of Telugu states. Exactly 84 years ago, on 6th of February, 1932, the first Telugu talkie film 'Bhaktha Prahlada' was released and created great sensation. It was an amazing experience for the people watching a movie that has actors converse among themselves.

'Bhaktha Prahlada' was directed by HM Reddy and was starred by MunipalleSubbaiah, Master Krishna Rao, Surabhi Kamala Bhai and others. The movie was made with a budget of Rs.18,000 and was shot for 18 days. The movie was initially released in Krishna theater of Mumbai. After two weeks of its run, the movie was screen in 'Maruthi Cinema' of Vijayawada and Krishna theater in Rajahmundry. 

Since 'Bhaktha Prahlada' was credited as the first Telugu movie of TFI, obviously, it was also given the credit of the first industry hit of Tollywood. It would be a wise decision if Tollywood's film fraternity celebrate every February 6 as a grand gala event.
