Yakub Memon, the convicted of 1993s Mumbai serial blasts, has been hanged to death in Nagpur's central prison a little while ago after his final plea was rejected by the Apex Court earlier this morning. The doctors confirmed his death. His dead body will be handed over to the members of the family of Yakub after the process of postmortem is completed.
It is a known news that the Supreme Court on Wednesday had refused to stop Memon's hanging, rejecting his claim that the top court had not followed correct processes in upholding his death sentence earlier this week. On the other hand, Yakub's mercy plea was rejected by the president Pranab Mukherji last night. However, Yakub's advocates approached the Supreme Court again in the mid night. The three judge bench has finally, refused to stop his hanging and they gave their verdict at 5 am today.
However, Yakub's brothers Tiger Memon and Dawood Ibrahim, who were also accused of of the Mumbai serial blasts, remain missing and are yet be caught.
