Telugu people must be proud enough for owning Avakaya, Kakinada Kaja, Guntur Gongura, half saris, pulusu, bobbattu, arisaa, Bandar Laddu, Vaddanam, Kuchipudi dance form and of course, 'Chandamama' book. This book was launched by none other than great producers and founders of Vijaya Productions, Nagireddy and Chakrapani. The first edition of 'Chandamama' was released in the month of July, 1947 and had been published till two years ago with little interruptions. Unfortunately, the management stopped publishing the monthly magazine with reasons unknown. The readers of 'Chandamama' can never forget the artists Vaddaddi Papayya, Chitra, Shankar's pics, Dasari Subrahmanyam's serials like 'Pathala Dugam', 'Vichitrakavalalu', 'Rakaasiloya', 'Durgesa Nandini' etc. Further, Vasundhara, Bommidi Achcharao, Malladi enriched our culture and traditions with their wonderful stories.

Currently, Ramoji Rao's 'Balabharatham' holds the number one position in the market with large circulation of the magazine. Undoubtedly this magazine replaced 'Chandamama' in circulation. However, unique style of 'Chandamama', that has completely folklore background stories and serials is missing in 'Balabharatham'. However, 'Balabharatham' fulfills the needs of present day children providing many activities in oil print pages.
