Varavara Rao files case against encounter

Varavara Rao, a Maoist sympathizer and  a rebel poet, on Friday filed a writ petition  in the Andhra Pradesh High Court challenging the police encounter with the  Maoists in Adilabad on Friday. Two  Maoists including its leader Azad were killed.

Contending that the  encounter was a fake one, Varavara Rao claimed that  Nagpur Police  arrested Azad  on Thursday morning  at 11.30  a.m. Azad  along with  another Maoist, Chandranna  was  taken  into  police  custody  and  they were brought  to Adilabad where  they were  tortured  before putting them to death.

Arguing that it is heinous  crime to paint  a  brutal murder as an encounter, he demanded  that  a  criminal case  should be booked against  the  police for adopting  such unscrupulous methods  while dealing with the  Maoists.

The rebel  poet urged  the Government  to  shift  the two  bodies of the Maoists  to Hyderabad and  conduct a postmortem in the  Osmania Hospital.

Another  Maoist  sympathizers Professor Hargopal  said  that only two percent of the  encounters  that take place in the State  are genuine  ones and the rest are  fake  ones.
