Cases have been booked against Member of Parliament and actor Vijaya Shanti by the Banjara hills police station under orders from the Election Commission, according to police sources here on Friday.

 The Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP faces charges under Indian Penal Code sections 505 (2) and 153 (A) for delivering inflammatory speeches in public at a time when the byelections are round the corner. The Election Commission on Friday issued notification for the July 27 bypolls in Telangana region.

 As a member of Parliament her speech inciting violence and bloodshed is anti-constitutional and devoid of decency befitting the post she holds.

 Vijaya Shanti on Thursday asked Telangana voters to resort to axing those who come in the way of Telangana formation. At a meeting at Telangana Bhavan here she said: “Telangana ku addoste, addanga narikestam” (whoever comes in the way  of Telangana formaion will be hacked to death).

 Chief Electoral Officer I V. Subba Rao has said that suo motu action will be taken against TRS MP Vijayashanti under the provisions of the Representation of People's Act and other sections of law for her reported remark at Telangana Bhavan for bypoll campaigning.

On Thursday, Subba Rao told newsmen that he had forwarded to the Election Commission reports about the remark which had the potential of inciting people and to disturb the atmosphere needed for conduct of free and fair polls.
