Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has accused the present BJP and TRS regimes at the Centre and Telangana State respectively of taking the nation backwards.

Speaking after hoisting national flag at Gandhi Bhavan as part of 71st Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that India, during the last 70 years after independence, registered economic growth only under Congress regimes. However, he said that the BJP Government at the Centre and TRS Govt in Telangana have completely reversed the growth process and pushed the economy into complete chaos. He said that the list of Congress achievements is too long. Right from turning India into a self sufficient nation in food production to introduction of Food Security Act, he said Congress Governments took revolutionary steps to make India a strong nation. However, he alleged that the present regimes have completely spoiled those efforts and have been pursuing the anti-people policies of suppression. He said no section of the society was happy under the BJP and TRS Governments.
