AICC General Secretary Digivjay Singh, who was on a day-long visit to Hyderabad on Thursday, has given nod for several agitation programmes to be organised by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee against the TRS Government in the State.

Digvijay Singh, along with TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, held separate meetings with the leaders of ST Cell, Minorities Department and Mahila Congress at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday.

During the meeting with the Scheduled Tribe leaders, it has been decided to hold protest meetings from 9th to 30th April across the State. A massive protest meeting will be held in Khammam on April 9th, in Nalgonda on April 13th, in Hyderabad at Nizam College on April 23rd and in Adilabad on 30th April. Speaking to media persons later, Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the TRS Government of doing injustice with the STs in the State. He said that the Congress party would organise mandal-level protest against the TRS Government on ST issues and representations would be made with the Governor and Union Ministers on various issues.

 Speaking to reporters separately, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka alleged that the State Government has acquired nearly 11,000 acres of tribal land in the name of Haritha Haram without paying any compensation to the affected STs. He said that the land was acquired in violation of PRESA Act. He also accused the government of not implementing the SC, ST Sub-Plan in the State.

 Meanwhile, Digvijay Singh held a separate meeting with the leaders of Minorities Department and finalise agitation programme on the issue of 12% Muslim reservation. Stating that the TRS has cheated the Muslim community on the promise of 12% Muslim reservation, he asked the Congress leaders to intensify the agitation. It has been decided to conduct a massive protest meeting on April 19 at Shadnagar, the same place where Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has made the promise three years ago.

 Digivijay Singh also directed the Congress leaders to wage a strong fight against the MIM in Hyderabad. He described MIM and BJP as the two sides of a same coin and said that the Congress party was against all kinds of communalism.

Later, the AICC General Secretary participated in the Women's Day celebrations organsied by TPCC Mahila Congress. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the TRS Government has failed to give justice to women in the State. He also asked the Mahila Congress workers to conducted agitation on issues concerning women. Addressing the same meeting, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that it was unfortunate the Telangana does not have a woman minister although the State was formed by a woman, Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Leaders of opposition K. Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Council) and other senior leaders participated in the meetings.
