Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday said that the Telangana Government would allocate more funds to the development of fisheries department in the coming budget and asserted that the TRS Government was giving priority to the department that was vastly neglected during the united Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking on the issue in Legislative Assembly, Kcr said that the fisheries sector was subjected to injustice due to meager allocations of funds. He said that the TRS government was creating ample opportunities for the production of 3.5 lakh tonne fish at specified production units. He said that the government was aiming at producing 11 lakh tone fish produce next year. He said that the state has the capacity of growing five lakh crore fish seeds. He also said that the state government was planning to set up two fisheries colleges and two research centres in the next two years.

Stating that the TRS Government has initiated various steps to strengthen fisheries department, the Chief Minister said that the state government has spent about Rs 24 crore to distribute 28 crore fish seeds that were released in about 3939 ponds across the state. He said that the fish markets would be set up soon in the state to help fishermen community sell their produce.
