Former Rajya Sabha member and Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao on Saturday demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come clean on corruption charges.

Speaking to media persons here, Hanumantha Rao said that Narendra Modi has not responded to the questions raised by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. He said that the proofs of Modi accepting bribes to the tune of Rs 40 crore from Sahara and Birla have emerged and added that the PM should come clean on this. If the PM says he is honest, then he should prove this through his actions, he said.

Terming the demonetization policy as anti-poor, the Congress leader said that the PM promised to bring things under control in 50 days but there has been no relief for the masses even after completion of 40 days. The Congress leader said that the Centre was trying to divert the attention of people from its failures in the aftermath of note ban by introducing the lottery system to honour people undertaking online transactions. The Congress leader said that the Centre’s move has hit the rural economy badly and pushed the farmers into distress.
