Stating that the people of the country were against the demonetization policy of the Centre, the YSR Congress Party demanded that the government recall the policy in the wake of widespread opposition from the majority of the people.

Speaking to media persons at the party office, YSRC spokesperson Botsa Satyanarayana said that the nationwide bandh call got good response in AP. He said that the government did not take enough steps to deal with the situation in order to help the people in exchanging currency notes. He said that the severe cash crunch has seriously affected the livelihood of the poor and the marginalized sections.

The Ysrcp leader said that the party supported government’s efforts to curb black money but added that the government failed to help out the common man in the wake of severe hardships arising out of the Centre’s move.  He said that it was unfortunate that the police had resorted to highhandedness against the people who took part in the protest against demonetization. He said that the government should not harass people and should rather focus on easing out their difficulties. He questioned the government’s move to rope in Future Group to supply cash at Big Bazaars saying that the government should instead supply enough cash at banks and ATMs instead of involving private group in the exercise.
