Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Tarakarama Rao on Wednesday said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had grand plans of development for Warangal, the second biggest city in Telangana after Hyderabad.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony of Kakaitya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) chief Marri Yadav here, the minister said that Warangal people played a key role in the Telangana statehood movement and hence KCR has focused on developing the city on all fronts. He said that the Chief Minister has promised to develop Hyderabad on the line of Hyderabad. He said that the state government has allocated massive funds for the city’s development in the state budget. He said that Warangal would receive Rs. 2,000 crore under the Smart City project from the Centre and State’s budget.

The minister said that the state government would develop IT sector in Warangal which would provide employment to thousands of local youth. He said that the state government was planning to set up textile park in Warangal and assured to take up the issue with Union Textile ministry. He said that textile sector would also provide employment to lakhs of textile workers.

Assuring to solve the issues of all the villages that were merged with the GWMC, the minister said that KUDA would develop civic infrastructure in these villages and promised to develop KUDA on the lines of Hyderabad’s HMDA.

The minister said that the TRS chief was recognizing the contributions of all the party leaders in the Telangana statehood movement and was honouring them by appointing them on various nominated posts. He said that about 3,000 nominated posts will be soon filled up and urged the party workers to strive for achieving Golden Telangana.
