Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chief Prof M. Kodandaram will hold a silent protest on October 2 at the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Assembly premises  to denounce the government’s apathy towards the farmers issues in the state.

Prof. Kodandaram announced this at the round table conference on the farmers’ issues organized by the Telangana Farmers JAC here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the JAC chief said that the aim of the fast is to mount pressure on the government to solve the issues pertaining to the farming community. He said that the government should dedicate one full day to discuss the issues of farmers in the ensuing Assembly session. He demanded the government to ensure that the farmers get agri-loans without any difficulty. Due to drought like situation in the districts farmers are facing a lot of difficulties in taking up farming, the government should save the farmers by extending all sorts of help, he added.

He said that after the silent protest on October 2, he will later embark on district tour to meet farmers and to learn their problems. Later a massive public meeting on farmers’ issues will be held at Hyderabad, the JAC chief said.
