Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that Telangana is the number one state in the country in the welfare of the weaker sections as it is spending Rs 30,000 crore annually on as many as 35 various welfare schemes for various sections of the society.

Speaking at the historic Golconda Fort after hoisting the national flag to mark the 70th Independence Day, the Chief Minister said Telangana had attracted the national attention with its achievements in development and welfare sectors in a short span of time. The government also established 250 residential schools for SCs, STs and minorities from the new academic year, he said.

The Chief Minister said that his government was committed to the welfare of the minorities and STs and would provided reservation in proportion to their population in the state as suggested by the Sudhir Commission and Chellappa Commission that submitted their reports recently in this regard.

Under Mission Kakatiya, restoration of 46,000 tanks will be taken up. The work on 8,000 tanks was completed in the first phase. Under Mission Bhageeratha, the foundation-stone of which was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi , every household will get piped drinking water by March 2018.

Kcr said the new industrial policy launched by the TS attracted 2,303 industries with an investment of Rs 46,000 crore.

The CM lauded the efforts of state police in maintaining law and order and sternly dealing with the anti-social elements. It is an honour for the state that the TS police had bagged a maximum number of police medals announced on the eve of Independence Day by the Centre.
