Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu released a book on the origin and history of Krishna river - `The saga of River Krishna’  published by  Information and Public Relations department as part of Krishna Pushkaram celebrations on Saturday.

The Chief Minister said younger generation should be aware of the importance of rivers and water conservation. He said Amaravati capital to be developed on the banks of River Krishna will emerge as a world class capital.

The book reveals the saga of Krishna river right from its origin in Mahabaleswar to the confluence of Krishna river into Bay of Bengal at Hamsaladeevi in Krishna district.

The book showcases the linking of rivers Krishna and Godavari during Krishna Pushkaram -2016 celebrations. The book furnish information of various projects on the river spread in 2,58,948 sq km in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Information on religious places along the river course including Mahabaleswar, Srisailam, Amaralingeswara swamy temple, Dhyana Budha project in  Amaravati and Sri Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada is available in this colourful book with photographs of various projects and temples.

In a message, Minister for Information and Public Relations Dr. Palle Raghunatha Reddy said that the book will help to bring awareness among young generation on the importance of Krishna River.
