Speaking to media persons after holding a meeting with Congress workers at his residence, Danam said some elements were trying to sabotage the Congress party and therefore, spreading rumours of his exit from the party. He reiterated that he would remain with the Congress till his last breath. He said he had committed the mistake of leaving the Congress party once in 2004. Despite winning the Asif Nagar Assembly seat in 2004 elections from TDP, he said he had resigned from the MLA's post to rejoin the Congress party after he was invited by the then Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Danam said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has been playing several mind games to demoralise the Congress workers before GHMC elections. He said that the Congress party would win the GHMC elections and would strive hard to get the Mayor's post. He also condemned M.S. Prabhakar for joining the TRS and said that the Congress party made him MLC twice and it was wrong on his part to leave the party in turbulent times.
