Former MP Sircilla Rajaiah's daughter-in-law and her three children were charred to death in a major fire that broke out at his residence in Hanamkonda in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Rajaiah's daughter-in-law Sarika (35) and her children, Abhinav (7) and twins Ayan and Sriyan (4), were killed when a massive fire erupted in the first floor of their house in Revenue Colony in Hanamkonda. Rajaiah, his wife Madhavi and son Anil Kumar were also present in the house at the time of incident.
While Sarika is suspected to have committed suicide along with her children, the family members maintained that it was an accident. However, Sarika's parents have suspected that it was a murder. Sarika had lodged a dowry harassment complaint against her husband Anil Kumar, father-in-law Rajaiah and mother-in-law Madhavi. A case was also registered in Begumpet Police Station and she had also staged a protest before Rajaiah's house in the past. Anil Kumar and Sarika had a love marriage in 2001. But differences between them cropped up with Sarika accusing Anil of neglecting her. Sarika had attempted to kill herself in the past due to marital disputes.
Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said that the police was investigating the case in all angles. He said that the Clues teams have been pressed into service and the cause of fire would be ascertained only after thorough investigation. Police extensively questioned Anil Kumar about the incident.
Meanwhile, the Congress party has decided to drop Rajaiah's candidature from the Warangal by-polls. Rajaiah, who had filed first set of nomination papers on Monday, had expressed his inability to continue in the fray.
