Journalists belonging to different organisations on Saturday held protest against serving of notice to 'T' new channel by Andhra Pradesh CID in connection with the investigation into the alleged phone tapping case.

The CID notices were served on 'T' News channel's CEO on Friday night for the broadcast of an audio tape which purportedly contained the telephone conversation between Telangana TRS MLA Elvis Stephenson and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Strongly criticising the notice, the journalists held protest before the office of AP's DGP. He scribes were taken into custody, shifted to Gandhi Nagar police station and released later.

In its notice, the AP Police alleged that the 'T' New channel has broadcast a programme on June 7 at about 8.30 AM wherein the audio tape of purported conversation between Stephenson and Naidu was shown. It said that the telecast has damaged the reputation of Chandrababu Naidu.

Journalists have held protest across Telangana State and set ablaze the effigies of AP Chief Minister.
