Congress should change its name to 'Scam-gress': KTR

Launching an all-out attack on Congress party, Telangana IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao termed the national party as ‘Scam-gress party’. Congress is infamous for indulging in corruption and commission culture wherever it was in power, he noted.

Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Rao was highly critical of AICC In-charge for Telangana Digvijay Singh’s outbursts against TRS government’s flagship programme ‘Telangana Drinking Water Project’, aimed at providing safe drinking water to every household in the state.

Reacting sharply to the allegations of Digvijay Singh, the minister, explained that this project was not meant for pipe manufacturers but for people, which will be completed in a challenging period of three years. He pointed out that no government in the country dared not to seek votes in the next elections if the drinking water project was not completed in the stipulated time.

KTR sought to know as to how a water project could be laid without pipelines. “We would be happy to know if Congress senior leader shares his plans with them on how to supply water without pipelines, give power without cables, provide education without schools or offer medical facilities without hospitals,” he ridiculed.

"Congress party was mired in corruption and scams wherever it was in power. It did not even spare natural resources underground (referring to coal scam) or the sky (2G and Augusta choppers scam). Even chief ministers, PCC presidents, ministers besides bureaucrats were charge sheeted by CBI and even served jail terms. Hence it is apt to call Congress as ‘Scam-gress,” he said.

Flaying Digvijay for terming TRS governance as family rule, Rao felt it was the joke of the millennium.  He said Congress entire history is based on family based politics right from Motilal Nehru’s period to the present chief Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi.  KTR noted that he or his family members were actively involved in separate statehood movement and got democratically elected with the support of the public unlike Gandhi’s family members.

“We did not vanish from the public life like Rahul Gandhi, whose whereabouts are unknown for the last one and half months,” he remarked.
