NTR statue unveiled

Ntr Statue was unveiled in Parliament by Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar at a grand function attended by a galaxy of leaders cutting across party lines and the Nandamuri clan.

The 9.3 feet bronze statue was unveiled to a thundering applause and charged up emotions as old timers who worked with NTR, family members and leaders of various parties coming together to grace the occasion.

Led by Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Dr Man Mohan Singh, his cabinet colleagues, LK Advani, Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj, Mulayam Singh Yadav, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu TDP MPs, Thanga Balu, Union Minister D Purandeswari were among those who attended the function.

Balakrishna, who is in TDP, had gone emotional and hugged his elder sister Purandeswari who is in Congress, Jr NTR too made an appearance. Lakshmiparvathi also attended the function.

Congress ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad, Pallam Raju, Jaipal Reddy, Chiranjeevi, Killi Krupa Rani, Sarve Satyanrayana, Ravishankar Prasad, MM Joshi, Arun Jaitli also attended the function.

Later speaking to media N Chandrababu Naidu and N Balakrishna described NTR as a great leader who has who fought for the Telugu pride and made that world know about Telugu people.

Sonia Gandhi, however, did not attend the function. TDP MPs took objection to her absence.
