No political significance to my Delhi visit: Rosaiah

Hyderabad,Nov 6: The Chief Minister,Mr K Rosaiah,on Friday tried to put at rest all speculations of a possible Cabinet reshuffle after his New Delhi visit.Mr Rosaiah who is leaving for Delhi on Friday evening -- reportedly under summons from the Congress High Command -- told media persons here that there is absolutely no political significance for his visit to the national capital.“This is my maiden visit to Delhi after assuming charge as the Chief Minister two months ago and it is just a courtesy call. Generally, the Congress Chief Ministers visit the High Command immediately after taking charge.I have already delayed my visit by two months, due to floods and other pressing problems.Besides, our national leaders were also busy with the polls in three States.

Now I got an opportunity to visit Delhi and it is only a courtesy call,” Mr Rosaiah explained. He said he would broach the subject of seeking flood relief from the Centre.“I am meeting the UPA Chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, and the Prime Minister,Dr Manmohan Singh, and other Union  Ministers  only to quicken the  release of funds for the flood relief which were promised by the Prime Minister to the State last month,” he said in reply to repeated queries from the media persons.Asked whether he would discuss with the High Command the proposed Cabinet reshuffle, the Chief Minister asserted that there is no political importance for his current Delhi visit. He evaded a direct reply when mentioned about the reports regarding the  move to drop some Ministers from the Cabinet.

When the media insisted that he should answer he said that everything happens at the right  time. However, speculation is rife in the party circles here that Mr Rosaiah has been summoned by the High Command only to bring to an end to the prevailing uncertainty over the chief minsitership and also the role that the Kadapa MP,Mr Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, will play in the State politics.Mr Rosaiah is expected to take the permission from the High Command to drop certain Cabinet Ministers, who are virtually opposing his appointment as the Chief Minister.

He was confident of resolving the tussle in the allotment of party tickets to the aspirants for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls. (The nomination process is coming to a close on Friday evening).“I will talk to the leaders concerned and resolve the issue amicably,” he said.
