MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Saturday accused the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government of targeting the Muslim community across the State.

Participating in the discussion in the Assembly on arrests made during Sadak Bandh agitation, Akbaruddin Owaisi raised the issue of Mominpet where incidents of communal violence occurred on Friday night. He said that a few Muslim youth went to a temple to request the management to either reduce the volume or stop playing the bhajans for five minutes in view of Maghrib prayers. However, he said the youth were beaten up and later a mob attacked the local Muslims in the mosque. On information, police reached the spot and beat up the local Muslims.

Akbaruddin Owaisi said that several Muslims, including children and elders, were arrested by the police. Accusing the police of acting in a partial manner, he said that such an attitude would only promote communalism.

The MIM floor leader also reminded the government of a case of molestation of a school girl by the Headmaster. He said since the victim girl belongs to Muslim community, no action has been taken against the Headmaster for the last two years. Instead, he alleged that youth who protested against inaction, were arrested and booked under severe charges.

Akbaruddin Owaisi appealed to the government not to treat the case as molestation of a Muslim girl and take action by considering it as molestation of women, whose security and protection is being debated across the country.

Describing the Congress as a communal party, he said that nearly 50,000 riots took place during Congress regime in which thousands of Muslims were killed.

Speaking about the cases of alleged hate speech booked against him, Akbaruddin Owaisi alleged that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy hired a Mumbai-based IT firm to promote his videos on social network sites. He said he was having documentary evidence to prove his allegations. However, he said he could not speak much about it as the matter was sub-judice.

He said that the MIM would not remain silent over the atrocities and injustices being done with the Muslim community and would adopt the path of agitation.
