Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy has admitted the existence of terror modules and sleeper cells in the city.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the Dgp said that in view of alert issued by the intelligence agencies of a possible terror attack, security has been beefed up across the State, especially in Hyderabad and Cyberabad. Security has been tightened around temples in view of Maha Shivarathri.

Requesting the people not to panic, the Dgp said that elaborate security arrangements have made across the twin cities to ensure safety. Besides deploying police pickets at all the sensitive locations, about 3,500 CC TV cameras have been installed at various places in the city.

The Dgp confirmed that Begum Bazar, Nampally, Abids, Koti and Ameerpet have been identified as the potential targets of terror attacks and the Hyderabad Police have advised closure of shops in these areas by 4 pm.

It may be mentioned that as part of the security measures all the shops, restaurants and other business establishments were being closed after 4 pm since Wednesday.
