T agitation has not weakened, claims Kodandaram

Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Friday rubbished the reports appeared in a section of media that the demand for Telangana State has weakened.

Talking to media persons after taking out a padayatra wearing black badges from Sundaraiah Viganan Kendra to Indira Park to mark the reversal of Centre’s announcement on the Telangana on Dec 23, 2009, Kodandaram said that the agitation for statehood has been intensified with the stalling of state assembly and parliament after the Centre reversing its stand on Telangana.

Stating that the JAC has chalked out an action plan to intensify the agitation, he said that the JAC would announce its plan soon after convening a meeting with rank and file of JAC. He said that the JAC would convene a meeting with those, who are making concrete efforts towards achieving Telangana and to take forward the agitation.

Kodandaram alleged that the Congress and TDP were responsible for the delay in the announcement of Telangana state by the Centre. He said that MPs, Ministers and MLAs from the region have failed to pressurise the Centres.

Earlier, flagging off the padayatra at Sundaraiah Viganan Kendra, Telangana Rashtra Samithi Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao stated that the Centre reversed its decision on Telangana due to indifferent attitude of Congress and Telugu Desam Party. He said TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu suddenly took U-turn after the announcement of Centre on Telangana state on December 9, 2009. He alleged that then Chief Minister K Rosaiah, Assembly Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu should be held responsible for blocking the process of formation of Telangana state.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bandaru Dattatreya, TNGO’s leader Swamy Goud, Telangana Gazetted Officers union president Srinivasa Goud, TRS MLA K Tarakarama Rao and TRS politburo member Nayani Narsimha Reddy took part in the padayatra.
