HC accepts PIL on bandhs, notices to govt, KCR, Kodandaram

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday gave the state government, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convenor M Kodandaram 14 days to respond to a Public Interest Litigation on the series of agitations and bandhs by Telangana activists in the region.

Accepting the petition filed by a city-based advocate Krishnaiah, the High Court issued notices directing the government, KCR and Prof Kodandaram to respond to the PIL.

Mr Krishanaiah had in his a Public Interest Litigation petition, expressed serious objection on the agitations and bandhs to press the Centre over the deletion of Clause 14 F from the Presidential Orders of 1975.

Mr Krishnaiah argued in his petition that the bandhs and agitations are disrupting the normal life of people and causing lot of inconvenience to businesses and trade.

Accepting the petition, the High Court issued notices to the state government represented by the Principal Secretary, Home secretary, Director General of Police, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convenor M Kodandaram.

They have been given 14 days to file their counter petitions. The Court adjourned the case for further hearing for two weeks.
