Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday stated that the Congress party has proved its strength in the Assembly through the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker posts.

Talking to media persons on Assembly premises after the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the Congress was ready to face No Confidence Motion at any time.

However, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the final decision on any No Confidence Motion rest with the Speaker.

The Chief Minister added that the Congress has the support of 164 MLAs. “Some MLAs had not attended today’s Session due to some personal problems,” he stated.

Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy hinted that his government has the support of many more Legislators besides the 164 MLAs.

“Our strength will be improved further if the Speaker agrees to introduce a No Confidence Motion in the House,” the Chief Minister claimed.

Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy added that the Congress High Command would take drastic disciplinary action against rebel MLAs at an appropriate time.

He also hinted that he would expand the Cabinet and fill the nominated posts after discussing these issues with the High Command, ‘soon.’
