Bharatiya Janata Party state unit president G Kishen Reddy on Wednesday described the State Budget 2011-12 presented by Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy as `magic of figures’.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, the BJP leader said that the government has failed to release last year funds in the budget for Jalayagnam works. How can it allot funds for projects in the present budget, he wondered.

Mr Kishen Reddy demanded the government to earmark a lion’s share of funds for Jalayagnam works.

The BJP leader added that at least Rs 25,000 crore more is needed to complete the pending works of the Jalayagnam project.

Mr Kishen Reddy further said that Mr Ramnarayan Reddy has failed to mention when the Krishna water would be supplied to Hyderabad city residents nor had the Budget made any mention about bringing Godavari water to the capital city.

The absence of mention of the reimbursement students’ fees despite the Supreme Court lashing out against the government, too evoked a sharp response from the BJP leader.

He said the Minister had quoted figures in the Budget but had conveniently failed to explain how the resources would be mobilized for the implementation of welfare programmes for poor and middleclass people.
