Telangana Rashtra Samithi Floor Leader in the state Assembly Etela Rajender on Wednesday condemned Speaker Nadendla Manohar’s decision to suspend seven TRS MLAs from the House for a day.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Rajender said the Speaker was treating TRS MLAs like a goondas and had ordered that they be forcibly lifted from the House without introducing suspension motion against MLAs.

Mr Rajender said that this action would not be taken lightly by the people of Telangana who would banish the leaders from the region.

The TRS leader said that the state government was adamant and was not keen to introduce a resolution urging the Centre to table a Bill on separate Telangana in Parliament, despite the region remaining paralysed, first due to the noncooperation agitation and then due to the 48-hour bandh disrupting normal life.

Earlier, the TRS MLAs, along with CPI and BJP Members, were suspended for raising Jai Telangana slogans and seeking introduction of resolution on Telangana in the House. They also protested by staging a sit in before the before the Speaker’s podium.

Another TRS MLA K Taraka Rama Rao demanded the TDP Members to make their stand clear on Telangana statehood demands. He also accused the TDP of adopting double standards on the contentious issue.

KTR said the Telangana people would react strongly and teach a fitting lesson to the TDP if its president N Chandrababu Naidu does not come clear on his stand.

Incidentally, the TDP Telangana MLAs boycotted the Budget presentation and left the House in protest against the government’s reluctance to introduce a resolution on the issue.
