Irate protestors, allegedly belonging to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Saturday stopped the convoys of Minister for IT and Communications Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Minister for Information and Public Relations DK Aruna and demanded that they resign over the Telangana issue.

The two Ministers were on their way back after conducting a review meeting on the Racha Banda programme at the district Collector’s office.

The TRS activists managed to stop the Ministers and entered into heated arguments with them. The security personnel escorting the Ministers chased away the TRS activists.

The activists, led by local MLA Vinay Bhaskar claimed that the Ministers’ security personnel manhandled them. This was however denied by the police.

Earlier, the Ministers had during their review meeting decided that as many as 16,352 temporary Ration Cards should be issued to the people so that they can avail of rations while the permanent cards are being prepared.

It was further decided that 3,606 pensions and 30,471 houses under the Indiramma scheme at a cost of Rs 104.36 crore be built.

As part of the Pavala Vaddi scheme, Rs 8.94 crore would be released to the SHGs and 24,523 members would be benefitted. Apart from this, 38,345 policies would be released under the YSR Abhaya Hastham scheme.
