Shouting slogans against the US President, the activists led by CPI (M) leaders from the old city, burn the US President’s effigy.

They alleged that the US President aimed to impose his capitalist policies and build financial relations with India as part of his visit. The activists stated that Mr Obama’s visit would put a strain on the relations between two major economic countries in South Asia—India and China.

They said the visit of Obama would increase tensions between India and Pakistan as US was the main arms supplier. The protestors further stated that Mr Obama and was not clear in his words and did not term Pakistan as a terrorist country.

The protestors claimed that by staying at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai which was attacked by Pakistan-trained terrorists Kasab and his associates, Obama had only paid tributes to the dead one but not condemned the attack.

“Mr Obama wants to promote foreign universities in India and would sign nuclear deal agreements to promote his country’s interests,” they said.
