Chandrababu Naidu-Narendra Modi

Chandrababu Naidu should not be the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh again, according to some voices within the BJP leadership at the central level. They seem adamant about this decision, citing several reasons. It is believed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have thoroughly studied Chandrababu Naidu's political career and are aware of many crucial aspects of his political strategies.

There is a sentiment within the BJP that Chandrababu Naidu's alliance with the party loses momentum every time, and he tends to overshadow the BJP in Andhra Pradesh by highlighting underworld connections. Additionally, there is a prevailing belief that Chandrababu Naidu is not a trustworthy ally. Despite being trusted by the duo of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani, it is suggested that Narendra Modi, while serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, closely observed Chandrababu Naidu's political maneuvers between 1999 and 2004. Some BJP leaders feel that Chandrababu Naidu has been playing games with the BJP in recent years, reveling in his victories and attributing defeats to the BJP.

There are also mentions of how Chandrababu Naidu, after receiving various benefits from the BJP, criticized Narendra Modi and Amit Shah in multiple ways by 2018, tarnishing the BJP's image in Andhra Pradesh. His actions, including forming alliances with the Congress in Telangana in 2018, have not been forgotten by the BJP leadership. Moreover, there is a sense of betrayal among BJP leaders regarding the 2023 Telangana elections, where the TDP did not contest and allegedly helped the Congress by diverting its votes, weakening the BJP.

Recent actions by Chandrababu Naidu, including aligning with his friend Pawan Kalyan's Janasena Party, have further strained the alliance with the BJP. While discussions were held in Delhi regarding this alliance, the TDP remained silent for some time and then suddenly announced the first phase list of TDP-Janasena candidates, which has reportedly angered BJP leaders.

There is a growing suspicion among BJP leaders that Chandrababu Naidu's strategies, such as bringing Y.S. Sharmila into Andhra Pradesh politics and influencing the Congress, are aimed at weakening the BJP's position in the state. As a result, there is a sentiment within the BJP's top leadership that supporting Chandrababu Naidu's return as Chief Minister would not be in the party's best interest, and they may consider contesting the elections alone. The BJP's strategy seems to be to keep the TDP under pressure without resolving the alliance issue, potentially diminishing the TDP's significance in the upcoming elections.
