Filmmakers must find novel ways to promote their films and change their marketing strategies from time to time to attract the audience’s attention. In that regard, Vakeel Saab may truly be leading the way forward with the series of musical fests being organised in various colleges across the Telugu states, including Vignan College (Vizag), KIET College (Kakinada) and MLRIT (Hyderabad).

It took the success of films like Alaa Vaikuntapuramulo and Uppena for filmmakers to re-understand the significance of music in maximising the popularity of their film. All the three songs of Vakeel Saab – Satyameva Jayathe, Kantipapa and Maguva – have become popular upon release and, ideally, the makers have used colleges as a medium to catch the buzz of youngsters in the lead up to April 9.

The pre-release events have more or less replaced the regular audio launches in the past and the musical fests may well usher a change in trend about the way the film is promoted. Independent bands across the Telugu states have been on the rise in the last few years and there’s no better time than now to make use of it. Another film, Love Story, has also been in the news for its music. Will the musical fests prompt its makers to relook the way to market their film? Wait and watch.
